BPA Announces New Wholesale Electric Rates

The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) today announced new wholesale electric rates.

In their news release, the BPA said, “The Bonneville Power Administration today adopted a 7.1 percent average wholesale power rate increase and a 4.4 percent average transmission rate increase for fiscal years 2016 and 2017. The rate increases support investments in the federal hydropower system and expansion of BPA’s high-voltage transmission system to meet regional needs. The new rates will take effect Oct. 1.”

Michael Howe, PUD Spokesperson said, “While the specific impact to the PUD and its retail rates is still to be determined, any BPA wholesale rate increase will have an impact on Clallam PUD.  As the PUD develops a budget for fiscal years 2016 and 2017 we will strive to meet our strategic objective of maintaining stable rates, and meeting our mission of ‘Providing reliable, efficient, safe and low cost utility services in an financially and environmentally responsible manner.’  The PUD’s budgeting process is public and generally occurs during the Fall.”
