Employee Benefits

Clallam County PUD is proud to offer an excellent full range of employee benefits, which include:

Paid Time Off:  Employees accrue PTO at the rate of 20 days annually, which may be used for pre-approved vacation or sick absences.

PAID Holidays:  Employees receive nine (9) paid holidays per year and two (2) paid floating holidays.

Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance:   Our healthcare plan is very generous and provided at a low cost to employees and their family.  Employees are eligible for medical, dental and vision insurance from the first day of the month following hire date.  The District's Premium Payment Plan 125 allows pre-tax benefits on employee medical premiums.

HRA/VEBA PROGRAM:   Employees participate in the HRA/VEBA (Health Reimbursement Arrangement/Voluntary Employees' Beneficiary Association) program, with tax-free PUD and employee contributions into a special account on employee’s behalf for eligible out-of-pocket healthcare costs and premiums.

LIFE, SHORT AND LONG TERM DISABILITY:  The District provides full time employees with Basic Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Short Term and Long Term Disability benefits.  The life insurance benefit is equal to annual salary; short term disability benefits of 60% of weekly earnings; and long term disability benefits of 60% of monthly income loss (maximums, waiting periods, and other restrictions apply).  Additional term life insurance is available at employees own expense.

Deferred Compensation ProgramS:  The PUD offers a deferred compensation program that allows employees the option to invest in two different 457 investment plans to save for retirement on a tax deferred basis.  These plans are for employee contributions only.

Public Employees Retirement System (PERS):  All PUD employees are required to participate in the State of Washington's PERS retirement program.  New employees select from PERS Plan 2, which is a defined benefit program, OR PERS Plan 3, which is a combination of a defined benefit component and an employee-defined contribution benefit program.  For more information about Washington State's PERS plans, you may visit the Department of Retirement Systems website at http://www.drs.wa.gov/member/Plans/PERS/default.htm.

PUD EMPLOYEE ASSOCIATION:  This is a voluntary, nonprofit organization run by and for employees.  Employees have the option of belonging by paying monthly dues to help support all employees during times of bereavement and illness and to participate in outside activities including holiday parties.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:  This program provides confidential assessment and referral services to help employees during challenging times.

TUITION ASSISTANCE:  The District provides an educational assistance program to help employees obtain education or training to increase their competence in present jobs.

WELLNESS PROGRAM:  Employees in the Wellness Program receive partial reimbursement for eligible expenses such as wellness and fitness programs and selected aerobic fitness equipment and activities in an effort to reduce overall medical costs and promote good health and physical fitness for employees and eligible dependents.

RELOCATION ASSISTANCE:  The District provides relocation assistance for certain positions.

FREE PARKING:  Get away from the traffic problems and parking fees.  Parking is provided in a lot right next to PUD facilities and we don’t have long commutes on crowded freeways.
