Employment Benefits
Clallam County PUD is proud to offer an excellent full range of employee benefits, which include:
Paid Time Off: Employees earn PTO to use for vacation, personal appointments, bereavement leave and sick leave. Employees accrue PTO at the rate of 20 days annually for the first 5 years, 25 days for years 5 through 10 and thereafter the accrual increases yearly up through the 20th year with the District.
Paid Holidays: Full-time employees receive 10 paid holidays per year and 2 paid floating holidays. Part-time employees receive pro-rated holidays depending on their schedule.
Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance: Our healthcare plan is very generous and provided at a low cost to employees and their families. All regular, full-time and part-time employees and their eligible dependents are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance from the first day of the month following hire date. The District’s Premium Payment Plan 125 allows pre-tax benefits on employee medical premiums.
HRA/VEBA Program: All regular, full-time, and part-time employees participate in the HRA/VEBA (Health Reimbursement Arrangement/Voluntary Employees’ Beneficiary Association) program, with tax-free PUD and employee contributions deposited into individual employee accounts for eligible out-of-pocket healthcare costs and premiums and to save for retirement healthcare expenses and premiums.
Life, Short, and Long Term Disability: The District provides regular, full time employees with Basic Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Short Term, and Long Term Disability benefits. The life insurance benefit and accidental death and dismemberment benefit is equal to 1 times annual salary; short term disability benefits of 60% of weekly earnings; and long term disability benefits of 60% of monthly income loss (maximums, waiting periods, and other restrictions apply). Additional term life insurance is available for employees and eligible dependents at employee’s own expense.
Deferred Compensation Programs: The PUD offers a deferred compensation program that allows employees the option to invest in 2 different 457 investment plans to save for retirement on a tax-deferred basis.
Public Employees Retirement System (PERS): All eligible PUD employees are required to participate in the State of Washington’s PERS retirement program. New employees select from the PERS Plan 2, a defined benefit program, or from the PERS Plan 3, a combination of a defined benefit component and an employee-defined contribution benefit program. For more information about Washington State’s PERS plans, you may visit the Department of Retirement Systems website.
PUD Employee Association: This is a voluntary, nonprofit organization run by and for PUD employees. Employees have the option of belonging by paying monthly dues to help support employees during times of bereavement and illness and to participate in outside activities including holiday parties and other events.
Employee Assistance Program: This program provides confidential assessment and referral services to help employees during challenging times.
Tuition Assistance: The District provides an educational assistance program to help employees obtain education or training to increase their competence in present and/or future positions.
Wellness Program: Employees who participate in the Wellness Program receive partial reimbursement for eligible expenses such as wellness and fitness programs and selected aerobic fitness equipment and activities in an effort to reduce overall medical costs and promote good health and physical fitness for employees and their eligible dependents.
Relocation Assistance: The District provides relocation assistance for certain positions.
Free Parking & Easy Commute: Get away from the traffic problems and parking fees. Parking is provided in a lot right next to PUD facilities and we don’t have long commutes on crowded freeways. Clallam County has an affordable and convenient public transit system throughout the County.

The District provides relocation assistance for certain positions.
Clallam County Public Utility District provides electricity to about 30,000 customers and the water district serves approximately 4,300 in 9 water systems. The District also has a few small community septic systems. We provide the network infrastructure for several Internet Service Providers (ISP) and the area’s cable television company.
Our 130 employees work in various shops and offices in Sequim, Carlsborg, Port Angeles, Forks, and the Clallam Bay/Sekiu areas to provide better service to the ratepayers in Clallam County.

- Foreman – a journeyman lineman who is in charge of a job and directs the work of other workers in construction, maintenance and repair.
Journeyman Lineman – performs construction and maintenance activities on transmission and distribution power lines. - Meter and Substation Technicians – perform installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of electric and substation metering and equipment. Perform installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of electric meters and metering equipment.
- Water and Waste Water Systems Superintendent – coordinate and schedule Water and Wastewater Department employees in a manner that ensures maximum continuity of service, efficient operation of the systems.
- Water and Waste Water Systems Senior Technician – construct and maintain District’s water and wastewater systems; install and operate water mains, pump stations, water treatment plants, reservoirs, and other equipment.
- Water and Waste Water Helper – assist in the construction and maintenance of District’s water and wastewater systems; perform tasks for the monitoring, inspection, reporting, and maintenance of wastewater, septic systems, or drain field pumps, valves, tanks, piping and associated equipment.

- Electrical Engineer – works on engineering and transmission and distribution projects; coordinates and establishes construction timelines between engineering and operation; incorporates new technology in the design or redesign of electrical components.
- Engineering Mapping Technician – maintain and update detail maps, maintain work order tracking system and files, and perform engineering activities; prepare drawings, plans, schematics, and construction plans for distribution facilities, water systems, sewer or septic systems, and other construction specifications and plant facilities as directed.
- Engineering Representative – plan and design electrical services for customers and perform engineering activities; assist crews, servicemen, customer service representatives; prepare proposals and cost estimates for overhead and underground service for individual customers and developers.
