What documents can I use as proof of income?

We use a categorical eligibility and traditional income verification model. This means that your enrollment certification from other community assistance programs may be sufficient to determine your eligibility. If you aren’t enrolled in these programs, we can verify your income with pay stubs and IRS tax returns.

Applicants have a choice to provide documentation when they apply. If you don’t, you may be selected for post-enrollment verification. The documents we ask for are the same regardless of the application route you choose.

ANY of the following documents:

  • SNAP/WIC Basic Foor WA - Full approval packet: approximately 7-12 pages
  • LIHEAP Certification - Full approval packet outlining decision and application review
  • Apple Health WA - Full approval packet includes confirmation of eligibility dates and outlines eligibility for Medicare
  • Section 8 - Full approval packet
  • IRS Form 1040 or 1099 - For each income earner in the household
  • If a non-filer, Applicable award letter(s) or most recent 1099s for income such as pensions or social security income
  • Paystubs - Current paystub with year-to-date totals, for each income earner in the household

Bank statements are insufficient for income verification, as verification of gross income is required.
