We enter the New Year with your Board of Commissioners having passed a refreshed Strategic Plan and a conservative budget that was able to reduce what would have been a 4% rate increase in April, to 3.5%. This was a commitment of several meetings and hard work on the part of staff to prioritize and make hard decisions without sacrificing reliability.
In the meantime, at every Commission meeting there is an agenda item called BPA Post-2028 Contract Discussion. This refers to the next long-term wholesale power contract that public power utilities will be entering into. The Public Utility Districts (PUD) jointly work to craft negotiations over these contracts in order to ensure that public power preference is maintained, as well as seek the optimum balance to serve our future power supply needs in the most affordable, clean, and reliable manner.
As always I invite you to attend our Commission meetings and play a part in shaping the future of your PUD. Our meetings are held in a hybrid format so you can attend in person, via Zoom, or simply listen to the audio recordings of our meetings at your leisure. Any presentations are also archived in the BoardDocs board meeting portal on our website for viewing.
Here’s to a safe and successful New Year!
