Effective immediately, Island View Water System customers are required to eliminate outdoor water use and minimize indoor water use.
Due to low water flows in Olsen Creek, Clallam PUD has issued a Stage 4 Water Alert for the Island View Water System. The Stage 4 response includes mandatory water-use restrictions and requires customers to eliminate outdoor water use and minimize indoor water use.
The Island View Water System is supplied by Olsen Creek. If low-flow conditions continue, the PUD may begin trucking water from the neighboring Clallam Bay/Sekiu Water System within the next week to help maintain an adequate water supply.
The goal of the Stage 4 response is to eliminate outdoor water use and reduce overall water consumption by 10 to 20 percent. The Stage 4 Water Alert will remain in effect until water-trucking operations are no longer needed.
What Island View Customers Need to Do
Effective immediately:
- Discontinue all outdoor water use.
- Minimize indoor water use whenever possible.
- Repair leaking faucets and toilets.
- Take shorter showers instead of baths.
- Run dishwashers and washing machines only with full loads.
- Reuse clean household water when possible. For example, collect water that would otherwise be wasted while waiting for hot water and use it for houseplants.
- Use water-efficient fixtures and appliances.
Every effort to reduce water use will help conserve the limited water supply and support continued water service for the Island View community.
The Island View Water System is located in western Clallam County, approximately 10 miles west of Sekiu, and serves 32 active water accounts.
