The Washington State Department of Ecology has provided an update from the Water Supply Availability Committee related to the previously issued Washington State Drought Declaration

Clallam PUD is asking customers in the Island View Water System to begin outdoor water use restrictions immediately as part of a Stage 3 Response under the District’s Drought Response Plan
The Island View Water System is located in western Clallam County, approximately 10 miles west of Sekiu. There are 33 active water accounts in the Island View Water System, which is one of nine water systems operated by the PUD.
Effective immediately, Island View customers are expected to follow alternating outdoor watering days:
- Even-numbered addresses may water only on even-numbered days.
- Odd-numbered addresses may water only on odd-numbered days.
- All customers are asked to minimize outdoor water use as much as possible.
The Island View Water System is supplied by Olsen Creek. Based on streamflow data collected by the U.S. Geological Survey, Clallam PUD forecasts that Olsen Creek streamflow may drop to 0.077 cubic feet per second within three weeks. Under the District’s Drought Response Plan, that forecast meets the criteria for a Stage 3 Response.
The purpose of the Stage 3 plan is to require Island View customers to reduce and/or eliminate outdoor water use and prepare for the additional drought response measures in the near future.
Customers can help conserve water by:
- Watering outdoors only on assigned days.
- Avoiding vehicle washing except for safety-related purposes.
- Fixing leaky faucets and toilets.
- Taking shorter showers instead of baths.
- Installing low-flow showerheads and faucets.
- Running dishwashers and clothes washers only when full.
- Reusing clean household water when possible, such as collecting water while waiting for hot water and using it for plants.
- Using water-efficient appliances.

A Stage 2 Water Conservation Alert has been issued for the following PUD water systems:
- Clallam Bay/Sekiu
- Fairview
- Gales Addition
- Monroe
- Mount Angeles
- Carlsborg
- Evergreen
