The District considers safety the highest priority. Not just within the scope of our work, but for our customers as well. Below you will find information on safety that you can use to be safe around electricity.
We also offer safety demonstrations for your group meetings, lunches, or classrooms.
Speakers Bureau
The PUD has a Speakers Bureau program to inform your organization or group about the latest and most accurate information on current issues, activities, or projects. Popular topics include energy-saving tips, home energy improvement incentives, and safety demonstrations for kids.
Most topics are ideal for a 20-minute presentation, though many may also be extended with more detail to fit a specific request.
We ask that you make your request a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the event so that staff has adequate time to prepare for the presentation. If you have any questions, email us at info@clallampud.net
Some Tips Regarding Electrical Safety:

1. Locate all overhead power lines.
2. Keep self and equipment 10 feet away from all overhead power lines.
3. Do not touch anything that is in contact with the power line.
4. Beware of fencing near power lines.
5. Carry ladders and other equipment horizontally.
6. Lower equipment apparatus before driving.
7. Never spray near power lines with irrigation systems.
8. Stay at least 30 feet away from fallen power lines.Look up and around before trimming those branches.
- Watch overhead power lines when working or playing with long objects (such as ladders, antennas, snow rakes, fishing rods, boat masts, or tree trimmers.
- Obey the 10-foot rule–don’t allow equipment, tools, or objects closer than 10 feet to an overhead power line.
- Don’t let anyone climb in trees near overhead power lines.
- Do not plant trees near overhead power lines. (Find out how the District utilizes Vegetation Management to prevent outages!) A downed power line can kill. Don’t guess; call your local electric utility.
- Call Before You Dig! Before digging, excavating, setting a mailbox, fence post, or planting trees and shrubs, remember to call for a locate of underground utilities.
