Whether you are connecting a new electric meter to an existing transformer or bringing new power on to a parcel, you’ve come to the right place. Complete and submit the form below to request an estimate for electric installation. Please note:
- The first step of installing new electric service is to submit a request form to connect with a PUD Serviceman. They will review your submission and contact you with any questions.
- Electric meters will not be connected until an address has been assigned by the appropriate addressing agency and posted on the property.
- To bring power to a parcel, please select the option “I need an estimate to bring power to a property”. You will get a separate estimate to connect a meter after power is available on the property.
- To upgrade or alter existing service, or install area lighting, contact the proper area PUD Serviceman.
- For more information, please review our “Other Requirements and Info” section below.
- Service Territory: Click on the link below to see a map to determine which PUD area Serviceman would be your main contact for your property.
Have you applied for a new utility account? Each new utility account requires a service application. You can find both the residential and commercial service applications on this page.
Submit approval by Washington State Labor and Industries (L & I).
- Installation of new meters, temporary service during construction, reconnection of service after electrical work, or property that has been disconnected for more than 12 months require approval by L & I.
- PLEASE NOTE: Any meter connect after an L & I inspection must be performed in the field by a PUD Serviceman. Connect charges for field visits are higher than a regular reconnect/disconnect due to the property visit and quality/safety inspection.
- A new or additional billing deposit may be required prior to meter connection.
L & I Electric Meter Connect Request
What happens next? Our team will review your submission within 2 business days and reach out to you with any questions.
You will be notified by a PUD representative when you are able to make a payment to proceed. At that time you will be provided a PUD account number. Payment will not be accepted until all required documents and information has been received and processed.
Once you are contacted to make your payment, you can pay by the following methods:
- at any PUD office
- via our SmartHub one-time payment portal
- by phone at (855) 943-3644
- at a PUD payment kiosk
You will be ready to connect when:
- You have submitted an application for a utility account.
- Your meter base has been approved by Washington State Labor and Industries (L & I).
- Your 911 assigned address is posted on the property.
Once all of your documents are in order and you have paid for your connect and any required billing deposit, your meter connect will be scheduled with a PUD Serviceman. Installation can take some time depending on high demand, unplanned outages, and material supplies.
- Call Before You Dig! Prior to any excavation work, call the national "Call Before You Dig" locating service by dialing 811, or (800) 424-5555, or online at Call Before You Dig to determine the location of existing underground utilities.
- If there are any existing easements on your property, provide a copy to Clallam PUD.
- Please review our Facility Access Policy (PDF) when deciding where PUD equipment will be placed on your property. The PUD must be able to access all meters, poles, transformers, and all other PUD-owned equipment with no delay or interference at all times.
- Costs will update annually from the estimate payment date and projects will be subject to a 36 month time limit for completion. This will affect all existing paid estimates.
- For information on Electric Line Guidelines, Electric Service Regulations & Requirements, Rates, or Deposits & Charges, visit our Electric page.
- Trenching and backfilling required for installation of underground cable is not included in your estimate and shall be provided by the customer. A PUD Serviceman will inspect the open ditch after cable install and before backfill.
- Contact your PUD Serviceman for a ditch inspection and wire installation before backfilling the ditch.
- If your project requires work within the County right-of-way, it will be your responsibility to obtain the necessary permit from Clallam County for all excavation performed within the County road right-of-way.
- Material availability; the District maintains a relatively large inventory of construction materials. However, some materials may not be available in District stock and may have to be ordered.
- Construction cost sharing; new line extensions are no longer eligible to receive sharing refunds from subsequent customers. New customers may be required to pay sharing refunds in accordance with existing sharing agreements. The terms of Construction Cost Sharing shall be defined in the most current revision of the Electric Service Regulations.
